I finally found a full version of my absolute fav song from Neon Hitch to date. It is called Poisoned With Love. Absolutely amazing!
If you didn't know already, I am a super huge fan of Teen Wolf on MTV. I love the show for so many reasons. It has great action, banter, and most of all music. (Okay, I also enjoy being able to look at Dylan O'Brien and Tyler Hoechlin. They are too attractive not to.) Their music selection is great and it has got me listening to some great new artists. The music they choose is what also makes the scenes so much more awesome. One of my favorite songs from the show is We Must be Killers by Mikky Ekko. The other song is from one of the best fight scenes from the show. Hope you enjoy and tune into MTV at 10 EST on Mondays to catch the show!
USA Network's new series "Political Animals" premiered tonight at 10 P.M. EST. I must say that all the hype was well deserved. It was a riveting and well written pilot. It had humor at the most perfect moments and seriousness in a good balance.
At first, I thought this would be a series that would be somewhat of a bio pic of Hillary Clinton's life and marriage. In a way it is true. The main character is a nod in the direction of Hillary Clinton and it is inevitable that those comparisons would be made, but it isn't what the show is about. It is about Elaine Barrish's decision to run for the presidency of the US after her many struggles of being let down by the men in her life. However, it is not just that element. The show also involves much of her personal life from her 32 year marriage to her ex-husband and chronic cheater, Bud Hammond, to TJ, her alcoholic and drug addicted son.
We see her strength and perseverance when those around her fail. She is an amazing leader who is impeccable in politics, but is very flawed and frequently blindsided in her personal life. She is fearless and is willing to cross certain boundaries to do what is right for the country and speak for those that cannot. She is not that power hungry politician that so many resent, but more of a fair and just leader.
I hope that more of this brilliant character is revealed and shown in six episode (yes only six) run. I see Barrish as a strong figure in so many situations. She is strong for those who aren't, for those whom she loves and most of all herself. She is a political animal after all.
Spring break was a blast! Well at least for me. I got to stay home, relax, and catch up on work that I haven't been able to do. Great shows premiered and some ended (for its little hiatus). I feel renewed and like a whole new me. So in lieu of that I've decided it's been long enough and that I should start changing things about myself that I don't like. I have realized that I need to better myself for me and not for others. I should stop looking at change in a bad perspective and that it is good if you want it to be. I am letting go of the past and living life the way I want to and seeing things the way they ought to be.
I had such an amazing weekend. I just got my new car as a birthday present. I'm very grateful for my mother's trust and generosity. She is the best and I couldn't ask for more. I finally drove my car today and it's amazing. I love how it drives and its size. Best gift ever.
So midterms are finally over. I am so pumped. I got one of the highest midterm grades in my history class and it bumped up my grade tremendously. Right now I am trying my best to work even HARDER to bump my final grade to a "B."
This new quarter is going to be a fresh start for everyone right now. A clean slate is just what I need. Even better, this Friday is my school's Mock United Nations event. How awesome is that! I will try to rehash my Mock UN event and tell you if we get an award.
I'm so pumped for tonight's episode of Battle of the Exes. It's the finale and I am totally rooting for Johnny and Camila.
So, this week is the week of midterms. My APUSH (Advance Placement United States History) class is probably the worst. The instructor gave us a 300 question packet asking on subjects/content we never went over in a lecture. What is worst is the fact that it is worth UP to 30 extra credit points! It should be great but the fact is that we don't know the answer and can't find any sites to help really sucks. My study group just left and the four of us couldn't even get through 40 questions in a couple hours. If it tells anyone anything is that my (academic) life sucks right now.
What an amazing book! I loved the fantastic novel that is all about the other side of working on Wall Street. The main character, Alex, has wanted to work on Wall Street since she was 8. When her dreams come true, it is definitely not what she expected. She must work her way into the boys club, buy a 50 lb wheel of cheese (you'll understand later), and survive the pranks. When you read this amazing novel you get to experience the roller-coaster of life on Wall Street and the unfortunate effects of the economic crisis of 2008 on this "Bond Girl". This novel is a definite must read!
I'm super excited that my friend, Annie, joined Blogger today! We're now bloggity buddies (I know how weird it sounds). I can't wait to see how her blog turns out. She is an amazing writer and you should check it out. Click here
Also, I wanted to share with everyone that tomorrow is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day! So spread awareness!
It's official. iTunes is stupid. I just opened iTunes today and it made me pick a previous library. One that wasn't recent and it was working fine yesterday. Like really I just want my music, plain and simple. Why does it have to be so hard? So I'm going to be spending forever trying to figure out how to fix the dang thing. :(
So a friend of mine allowed me to borrow The Luxe by Anna Godbersen. The cover of the book is pretty in my opinion and made me want to read it. The contents however isn't as captivating as the cover. I started reading the book and was somewhat confused by the way it was setup. Only when I was through the first few chapters did I realize that the book was written with the end at the beginning.
Mrs. Godbersen didn't just focus one just one or two characters either, but she focused on I'd say about five. I find it odd to be following one character storyline then jump to another abruptly afterward, with the writing almost as lackluster as the characters of the novel. They seem so out of place and some of the girls just sleep around (for high society girls in 1899 doing that? I don't think so!) I felt more work could have been put in to making the characters and the story a little more like the 19th century than a Gossip Girl plot with slightly higher stakes. The description on the book jacket and the first few pages just told you who to hate or like and never developed them into anything more.
I do have to say that Mrs. Godbersen has a knack for describing (which brings life to the story) and using very eloquent words, but sometimes her descriptions were put in the wrong place interrupting the little cohesiveness the writing had left.
The book has a few positive lights to it though. From a historical perspective it's well researched even with its flaws. Even though it's a young adult novel, I have talked to some adults who find it quite entertaining. I would say it's a quick read, if you can get through it. I read it within a day and it can be read in 1-3 days if you are interested.
Overall, this book has been overly hyped and has more cons than what should be allowed on a New York Times Best-Sellers list. I hear there are a lot of mixed reviews concerning The Luxe and its three follow-ups. if you don't like historical fiction or anything close to Gossip Girl then this book really isn't for you.
So today during presentations, I discovered a really cool song that I want to share with everyone. It is called This is the Beginning by Boy. The song come off of their album Mutual Friends. I hope you enjoy it!
Another thing is the fact that today is Joe Flanigan's 45th birthday! Joe is mostly known for his role as John Sheppard of Stargate Atlantis and has done cameos in Fringe, Warehouse 13, and several others. Happy birthday Joe, I hope it's amazing.
Today, I finally started on a new written work. I hope that I can actually finish the story, because I'm one of those people who can start something, but suck at following through with it. It is going to be like a mini fan fic for Stargate Atlantis. One thing though is I need to figure out a title for the story. If I actually get it done I'll post it to fanfiction.net.
On another note, I found some really good drawings of some characters from my first anime ever, Sailor Moon! Here are ones of Princess Kakyuu from the last season of the show.

Ah, I haven't posted in a couple months which makes me feel horrible. The holiday was amazing! Today was the first day back to school and can I say, was it tiring. Finals are coming up soon so I have to work super hard. I know I can do it though.
For Christmas, my friend gave me a fourth edition of The Elements of Style. It has been super helpful for some papers I wrote lately. I decided to start writing more often. I might even do a little AU fanfic of a show I love.I am super stoked for it. So far 2012 seems like it will be a super awesome year.
