Confessions Of A Dreamer

"Let go of the past and go for the future. Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you imagined."

I'm super excited that my friend, Annie, joined Blogger today! We're now bloggity buddies (I know how weird it sounds). I can't wait to see how her blog turns out. She is an amazing writer and you should check it out. Click here
Also, I wanted to share with everyone that tomorrow is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day! So spread awareness!

It's official. iTunes is stupid. I just opened iTunes today and it made me pick a previous library. One that wasn't recent and it was working fine yesterday. Like really I just want my music, plain and simple. Why does it have to be so hard? So I'm going to be spending forever trying to figure out how to fix the dang thing. :(

So a friend of mine allowed me to borrow The Luxe by Anna Godbersen. The cover of the book is pretty in my opinion and made me want to read it. The contents however isn't as captivating as the cover. I started reading the book and was somewhat confused by the way it was setup. Only when I was through the first few chapters did I realize that the book was written with the end at the beginning.
Mrs. Godbersen didn't just focus one just one or two characters either, but she focused on I'd say about five. I find it odd to be following one character storyline then jump to another abruptly afterward, with the writing almost as lackluster as the characters of the novel. They seem so out of place and some of the girls just sleep around (for high society girls in 1899 doing that? I don't think so!) I felt more work could have been put in to making the characters and the story a little more like the 19th century than a Gossip Girl plot with slightly higher stakes. The description on the book jacket and the first few pages just told you who to hate or like and never developed them into anything more.
I do have to say that Mrs. Godbersen has a knack for describing (which brings life to the story) and using very eloquent words, but sometimes her descriptions were put in the wrong place interrupting the little cohesiveness the writing had left.
The book has a few positive lights to it though. From a historical perspective it's well researched even with its flaws. Even though it's a young adult novel, I have talked to some adults who find it quite entertaining. I would say it's a quick read, if you can get through it. I read it within a day and it can be read in 1-3 days if you are interested.
Overall, this book has been overly hyped and has more cons than what should be allowed on a New York Times Best-Sellers list. I hear there are a lot of mixed reviews concerning The Luxe and its three follow-ups. if you don't like historical fiction or anything close to Gossip Girl then this book really isn't for you.

So today during presentations, I discovered a really cool song that I want to share with everyone. It is called This is the Beginning by Boy. The song come off of their album Mutual Friends. I hope you enjoy it!
Another thing is the fact that today is Joe Flanigan's 45th birthday! Joe is mostly known for his role as John Sheppard of Stargate Atlantis and has done cameos in Fringe, Warehouse 13, and several others. Happy birthday Joe, I hope it's amazing.

Today, I finally started on a new written work. I hope that I can actually finish the story, because I'm one of those people who can start something, but suck at following through with it. It is going to be like a mini fan fic for Stargate Atlantis. One thing though is I need to figure out a title for the story. If I actually get it done I'll post it to fanfiction.net.
On another note, I found some really good drawings of some characters from my first anime ever, Sailor Moon! Here are ones of Princess Kakyuu from the last season of the show.

http://www.animeseason.com/bishoujo-senshi-sailor-moon-sailor-stars/ is a great site to watch the last season of Sailor Moon since many countries never got to show it on television. Enjoy!

Ah, I haven't posted in a couple months which makes me feel horrible. The holiday was amazing! Today was the first day back to school and can I say, was it tiring. Finals are coming up soon so I have to work super hard. I know I can do it though.
For Christmas, my friend gave me a fourth edition of The Elements of Style. It has been super helpful for some papers I wrote lately. I decided to start writing more often. I might even do a little AU fanfic of a show I love.I am super stoked for it. So far 2012 seems like it will be a super awesome year.
